Friendship, fun and children’s voices are at the heart of a special #BeFriendly Friday celebration at Robin House during Scottish Children’s Health Week 2026. Children, young people and families will gather for a joyful 50th birthday party for Children’s Health Scotland hosted by Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS), creating opportunities to make new friends, spend time together and celebrate what it means to belong.
The celebration has been welcomed by Nicola Killean, Children and Young People’s Commissioner Scotland, and colleagues from the Commissioner’s office, who will join families and partner organisations for a day focused on kindness, connection and the importance of listening to children’s views.
As supporters of this year’s #BeFriendly Friday theme, the Commissioner’s office has also contributed a special activity to Children’s Health Scotland’s 2026 Scottish Children’s Health Week Activity Book and continues to work alongside the charity’s Health Rights Defenders, helping to ensure that children’s views and experiences help shape decisions that affect their lives.
Hosted by CHAS at Robin House, the event will also highlight the vital support the charity provides to children with life-shortening conditions and their families. By creating a welcoming space where children, young people, families and partners can come together, CHAS is helping make #BeFriendly Friday a meaningful celebration of connection, kindness and belonging.
Helen Forrest, Chief Executive of Children’s Health Scotland, said:
“We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate #BeFriendly Friday than spending time with our friends at CHAS at Robin House. The day promises to be filled with smiles, laughter and meaningful conversations, all centred around what matters most, supporting children and families. Scottish Children’s Health Week is about celebrating the people, partnerships and organisations that are making a positive difference to children’s health across Scotland. Our birthday celebration with CHAS brings that message to life.
“It is wonderful to be joining Nicola Killean and her team, alongside colleagues from CHAS, to celebrate the strong relationships we have built together. By opening the doors to Robin House and welcoming children, young people and families into such a warm and supportive environment, CHAS is helping bring the spirit of #BeFriendly Friday to life. Their commitment to children and families demonstrates the positive difference that can be achieved when organisations work together
“The event is a reminder that friendship, kindness and collaboration are at the heart of improving outcomes for children and young people. We are incredibly grateful to CHAS for hosting the event and for the vital support they provide to families every day.”
Nicola Killean, Children and Young People’s Commissioner Scotland, said:
“It’s wonderful to be at Robin House and see first-hand the amazing work that goes on here. It’s a place of great joy and warmth, with the love and care of children and families at its heart. Children have the right to the best possible health, and that’s why we support Scottish Children’s Health Week. It highlights the importance of a wide range of children’s rights, like listening to children’s opinions, and making sure they are meaningfully involved in decisions that affect them, including in their care. This #BeFriendlyFriday we’re celebrating children and young people, the work of Children’s Health Scotland and all the significant partners, like CHAS, who deliver children’s rights every day.”
The celebration forms part of Scottish Children’s Health Week’s #BeFriendly Friday, encouraging people and organisations across Scotland to recognise the importance of friendship, connection and partnership in supporting the health and wellbeing of children and young people.
About Scottish Children’s Health Week
Scottish Children’s Health Week is an annual campaign led by Children’s Health Scotland that celebrates the health, wellbeing and rights of children and young people across Scotland. The week brings together children, families, professionals, schools, charities, community organisations and decision-makers to raise awareness of children’s health rights and highlight the positive difference that can be achieved when children’s views, voices and experiences are listened to and acted upon.
Through a programme of themed activities, events and celebrations, Scottish Children’s Health Week encourages everyone to play their part in creating a Scotland where every child can realise their right to the best possible health.
Scottish Children’s Health Week 2026 celebrates the importance of connection, kindness and partnership in supporting children and young people’s health and wellbeing, with #BeFriendly Friday recognising the power of friendship and collaboration in making a positive difference to children’s lives.
The partnerships celebrated throughout the week continue to create positive change throughout the year. Following a recommendation from Children’s Health Scotland’s Health Rights Defenders, CHAS will support the charity’s My Health, My Rights Conference by providing a dedicated quiet space, demonstrating how children’s views, voices and experiences can directly influence the environments and support available to them.
