Children and young people in Cranhill, Glasgow, whose health, wellbeing, and rights are most at risk, are now benefiting from the latest Self-Management Skills (SMS) Programme delivered by Children’s Health Scotland, Scotland’s leading children’s health charity.
Cranhill is an area where many families face economic hardship and limited access to healthcare and wellbeing resources. By working in partnership with Cranhill Development Trust, our latest programme is providing young people with the tools they need to build confidence, resilience, and life skills that support their long-term health and wellbeing.
Eilidh Findlay, Coordinator at Children’s Health Scotland, said:
The Self-Management Skills Programme is an invaluable resource for children and young people in Cranhill, helping them develop essential skills to navigate life’s challenges. We are deeply grateful to Trades House of Glasgow, the PIXEL Fund, and The National Lottery Community Fund, whose support has made this programme possible.
Helping Children Build Essential Life Skills
Through interactive workshops, participants explore ways to manage their emotions, improve communication, and make informed health choices. These practical skills support young people in school, relationships, and personal growth, helping them build a strong foundation for their future.
Promoting Health Rights and Wellbeing
Children’s Health Scotland believes that every child has the right to the best possible health. As part of the SMS Programme, children learn about their health rights, gaining a better understanding of how to advocate for themselves and access the support they need. Play-based activities ensure these lessons are engaging, accessible, and relevant to their daily lives.
Strengthening Community and Support Networks
Beyond skill-building, the programme fosters a sense of community. By working alongside their peers, young people share experiences, build friendships, and support each other in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Supporters
We extend our sincere thanks to Trades House of Glasgow, the PIXEL Fund and The National Lottery Community Fund for their ongoing support. Their generosity enables us to continue delivering vital programmes that make a lasting difference in the lives of young people.
