Workshop delivered by Starcatchers
This inspiring workshop explores how creative, sensory, and playful experiences can support babies and toddlers to feel safe, valued, and included — laying the foundations for understanding their rights from the very start of life. Led by Starcatchers, specialists in early years creative engagement, the session is designed for parents/carers, early years practitioners, artists, and professionals working with young children. Participants will learn how music, movement, storytelling, and sensory play can support communication, emotional wellbeing, and participation for under‑threes. Rooted in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child — particularly the rights to development, expression, and the highest attainable standard of health — this workshop demonstrates how rights‑respecting practice begins in infancy, ensuring even the youngest children are seen, heard, and supported through responsive, joyful interaction.
ABOUT Starcatchers
Starcatchers was originally established as a pilot project in Muirhouse, North Edinburgh in 2006. Evolving over the last 15 years, Starcatchers has pioneered approaches to engaging creatively with our youngest children and their parents and carers. Through their programmes of work they connect with babies, toddlers and young children locally, nationally and internationally. Their work is carefully developed with the child at its heart and they have developed robust research and evaluation to underpin the work they do.
