30 November 2021 is #GivingTuesday – a day where everyone, everywhere can do something to support the good causes that mean so much to them. As the leading children’s health charity in Scotland, Children’s Health Scotland has chosen this day to launch their Have a Phenomenal Christmas Appeal, with donations going towards funding their work to support children and young people with long-term health conditions.
#GivingTuesday was brought to the UK in 2014 by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) and provides the perfect opportunity for everyone to give back to good causes by giving a donation, reaffirming their commitment to a cause, volunteering their time, or supporting others by simply helping a friend, neighbour or family member.
Helen Forrest, Chief Executive for Children’s Health Scotland, said: “During COVID-19 fundraising has definitely become more difficult for us. So #GivingTuesday has provided the charity with the perfect opportunity to launch our Have a Phenomenal Christmas Appeal that will help to fund our work supporting children and young people with health conditions. The appeal has been launched on our Just Giving page, so it’s now easier than ever to support the work we do nationally using our Giving Checkout. The health and wellbeing of children and young people lie at the heart of our work, and we would be extremely grateful for any donation that you can make to help fund our work.”
The holiday season is a great time for spreading kindness, joy and giving to others. As part of our Have a Phenomenal Christmas Appeal we will be highlighting some of our most joyful events we experienced with the children and young people we supported during 2021 and highlighting these on our website and social media channels. We will also be spreading a little kindness by hosting a few festive giveaways of a limited-edition Christmas Bear and decoration. More details will follow soon on our website and social media channels.
Regarding #GivingTuesday, Andy Frain, #GivingTuesday UK Lead at the CAF, adds: “We’re all looking forward to moving on from the pandemic as soon as it is safe to do so, but it’s so important we remember the work done to help keep communities going over the last year and a half. Giving Tuesday is a great chance to Give Back to the charities and causes that we care about and thank them for overcoming some immense challenges over the course of this pandemic. People can give in so many ways and we’re always amazed at the diversity of people’s generosity – whether it is donating money, volunteering time or just amplifying your support for a charity, any act of Giving can make all the difference to a cause you care about.”
Children’s Health Scotland is the only charity in Scotland entirely dedicated to ensuring that children and young people receive the healthcare and treatment they need. As such, our efforts are essential for a healthier and happier society. We have focused on helping all children and young people with health conditions in Scotland for over 40 years, and we simply could not have done our work without the generous help of others.
A donation to our charity will enable us to continue to provide much needed services to support the health and wellbeing of children and young people in Scotland, especially those with long-term health conditions. Most importantly a donation will be supporting our work to continue to help improve the confidence, self-esteem, and mental health and wellbeing of children and young people with health conditions whilst empowering a knowledge of their rights.
We would be extremely grateful for any donation to help fund our work. Visit Giving Checkout to simply and securely give to our cause
