The Promise Scotland has published a comprehensive review of its work from August 2023 to March 2025, highlighting progress, challenges, and the collective efforts made to keep Scotland’s promise to its children and young people.
The review outlines key developments across national and regional projects, policy influence, and strategic support. It reflects on the organisation’s role in supporting the Oversight Board and the Independent Strategic Advisor, particularly in the development of Plan 24–30 and the publication of the third national report in February 2025.
Chief Executive Fraser McKinlay acknowledges both the achievements and the areas where progress has been slower than hoped. He reaffirms The Promise Scotland’s commitment to accelerating change and ensuring that all children in Scotland grow up loved, safe, and respected.
Highlights from the review include:
- The launch of the Promise Progress Framework and the Doing Data Differently initiative.
- National projects such as the Children’s Hearing System redesign and the National Lifelong Advocacy Service.
- Local support efforts, including the Promise Design School, regional networks, and tailored collaborations with local authorities.
- Thematic focus areas: Early Help and Support, A Good Childhood, Moving On, and Increasing Opportunities in Education.
This review is a testament to the dedication of those working across Scotland to deliver meaningful change in the lives of care experienced children and families.
