The Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration has published a ground-breaking piece of new research. The report ‘Digital Poverty and Exclusion in Scotland: Digital Lives of Care Experienced Children’ looks at digital exclusion in the Children’s Hearings System.
Simpler social security system saves families time
More than 38,000 payments have been paid to families to help with the costs of early learning and starting school. Families who qualify for Scottish Child Payment are now automatically awarded Best Start Grant Early Learning Payment and School Age Payment when their child becomes eligible, without them having to apply separately.

New national allowance for foster and kinship carers
For the first time foster and kinship carers across Scotland will receive at least a standard national allowance to support them in caring for the children and young people they look after. Funded by £16 million from the Scottish Government, the new Scottish Recommended Allowance will benefit more than 9,000 children.
