As part of Scottish Children’s Health Week 2026, we’re celebrating #BeKind Saturday by recognising the incredible kindness, dedication, and commitment shown every day by Foster and Kinship Carers across Scotland.
Being kind isn’t only about the things we do for others—it’s also about ensuring that carers receive the support, knowledge, and encouragement they need to thrive. That’s why we’re inviting organisations, local authorities, and community groups to book FREE Foster and Kinship Care Workshops for 2026-27 with Children’s Health Scotland.
These workshops are designed to support carers to feel informed, confident, connected, and empowered as they care for some of Scotland’s most vulnerable children and young people.
🤝 Why Kindness Matters for Carers
Foster and Kinship Carers provide stability, love, and understanding to children who may have experienced significant challenges in their lives.
Acts of kindness can have a lasting impact, but carers also need opportunities to learn, reflect, and connect with others who understand their experiences. Our workshops create welcoming spaces where carers can share ideas, gain practical skills, and build confidence in supporting children’s health and wellbeing.
By investing in carers, we’re helping to create healthier, happier futures for the children and young people they care for.

💬 What Carers Tell Us
This workshop gave me so much insight and practical advice. I left feeling more confident and supported in my role as a foster carer.

Feedback like this reminds us why these workshops are so important. Carers consistently tell us that they value the opportunity to learn new skills, connect with others, and feel supported in their caring role.
💙 A Word from Helen Bauld
These workshops are about more than just information—they’re about connection, understanding, and support. We create a warm, welcoming space where carers can come together, share experiences, and build confidence in supporting the health and wellbeing of the children and young people they care for.
Understanding health rights is a vital part of that journey, and we’re here to help carers feel informed and empowered. We also signpost to other services and supports, so no one leaves feeling alone. It’s a privilege to walk alongside carers in this way.

Our workshops encourage carers to develop practical skills, increase their understanding of children’s rights, and build stronger support networks. Through kindness, knowledge, and shared experiences, we’re helping carers feel more confident in navigating challenges and advocating for the children they care for.
