The newest edition of the CHS magazine is now available to view online. The Autumn magazine is packed full of great stories, such as celebrating the success of Scottish Children’s Health Week and Awards 2021 and the impact of SMS:CONNECT.
Our second Scottish Children’s Health Week took place in September and was a huge success! You can read all about the events and activities of each day in detail in the latest edition of our mgazine. Thank you to everyone who helped make the week a success, including our charity partners for each day: TeapotTrust, SeeMe, RelaxKids, RSPB, Starcatchers, Mental Health Foundation and The LUNA Project.
During the week, the seven winners of our annual Scottish Children’s Health Awards were announced to kick off the day! Read the full story of each award winner, who were all interviewed by Journalist and TV Presenter Catriona Shearer for this fifteen-page special.
Our Annual Review and Impact Report for 2020-21 is featured on page 4. The review tracks our progress against our five Key Strategic Priority Areas and summarises the impact we have made in our sector over the past year.
On page 6 in the magazine, we spotlight “Millie goes to the dentist”, a two-page feature about how Millie learned to use health-related play and relaxation techniques, to create a photobook of her experience of going to the dentist. We are delighted that our ambassador Rory Crawford read this fantastic story with Millie during Scottish Children’s Health Week 2021. CLICK HERE to view the story.
SMS:CONNECT has just celebrated its first anniversary. On page 28 Izzie Turley, our Children’s Health and Wellbeing Coordinator, reflects on adapting the Self-Management Service to the digital world. We hear from 14-year-old Rona on her feelings on taking part in SMS:CONNECT and review the impact the programme has had on children and young people with health conditions over the past year. We are thrilled to be receiving £56,000 from the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland Self- Management Fund expand the provision of our SMS:CONNECT Programme.
The health and wellbeing of children and young people lie at the heart of what we do. Would you like to fundraise to support our work? On page 31 we feature some great fundraising and funding opportunities. A big thank you to Lucy Walker, who previously attended our SMS:CONNECT programme and went on to raise an amazing £6,000 to help fund our work. Read Lucy’s full story on page 5.
