Welcome to Day 12 of Bear’s Advent Calendar! Are you ready to #ShareWithBear?
At the My Health, My Rights Conference in September 2022, we launched our very first book ‘Millie meets the dentist‘, starring 9-year-old Millie, who is autistic! Bear wanted to tell you all about how this book can help children, young people, and those who care for them, to become confident about going to the dentist.
The book begins by exploring the things that helped Millie to prepare for visiting the dentist and how she worked through her worries through health-related play. After Millie’s story, there is a section for grown ups which explains how to support children who may struggle with unfamiliar situations. It explains how we can use stories, play, breathing and relaxation to help a nervous child calm down. Thank you to Millie, and her mum Natalie, for all their support in creating this amazing book!
Bear helped to tell Millie’s story: “Here I am joining in with the fun with Millie and Children’s Health Scotland Ambassador, Rory Crawford! You can catch our #StoryWithRory reading on the Children’s Health Scotland Facebook page!”
If you would like to purchase ‘Millie meets the dentist‘ for £6.99 + P&P, please visit our Shop at or email enquiries@childrenshealthscotland.org
