Welcome to Day 19 of Bear’s Advent Calendar! Are you ready to #ShareWithBear?
For Day 19, Bear wanted to tell us all about an amazine trip he had earlier this year. In June, we were invited to speak at The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) Annual Conference in Liverpool, alongside The Children and Young People’s Commissioner for Scotland (CYPCS) Bruce Adamson!
CHS Young Volunteer, Eve Mclaren, and Bruce joined the session ‘Children’s Rights and Paediatrics: On the Sofa with RCPCH & Us’ alongside all of the other UK’s children’s commissioners, asking some powerful and important questions, sharing the work of Children’s Health Scotland, and discussing the importance of collaboration and innovation.
Eve spoke about her experiences as a young person with autism and her emotional support dogs, Bear and Odie, who help her at appointments and groups. Afterwards, Eve received a special mention from the President of the RCPCH, Dr Camilla Kingdon, as one of her top highlights for the entire three-day conference!
It was a fantastic session, putting the important voices of children and young people at the forefront of children’s health, with young people from all four nations sharing their stories!
A huge thank you to RCPCH and CYPCS, and well done to all of the amazing young people involved for influencing children and young people’s healthcare needs and rights across the UK!
Let us know on Facebook and Twitter what’s your favourite place you’ve been to this year! #ShareWithBear
Come back tomorrow for Day 20 of our advent calendar to see what else Bear and Children’s Health Scotland got up to in 2022!
