We have been very busy recently working with The Big Brave to produce colourful illustrations to help explain what to expect if you are visiting hospital.
The Big Brave is a group of doctors, nurses, musicians, charities, linguists, clever school students and artists who are interested in improving the way that information is given to people coming to hospital. Starting with children who come to hospital for an operation or procedure requiring a general anaesthetic (medically induced sleep!), their aim is to make information about what will happen during your hospital journey more accessible, easy to understand and fun.
Fear often comes from the unknown and children have big imaginations! Together with The Big Brave, we believe that telling children and young people what will happen when visiting hospital is the key to ensuring they maintain trust in us adults and health professionals.
Please watch the video that tells you what to expect when visiting hospital. Remember if you are going to hospital everything will be explained to you and just to ask if you aren’t sure about anything. No question is a silly question!
